Thomas William Hoffmann, 65, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 20, 1941, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Dorothy (Evans) Fair and Louis Hoffmann.
Tom served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Prior to his retirement, Tom was employed for 36 years by MSA as a business process analyst. He had a passion for EMS and was a charter member of Murrysville One and a paramedic for Mutual Aid Ambulance Service. He formerly taught CPR for the American Heart Association and was a first responder at MSA. He is remembered by his co-workers as a kind, gentle, caring man. He was a member of the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church.
Tom was a loving husband, and proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 22 years, Darlene (Patrick) Hoffmann; son, Trevor Maher, of Columbus, Ohio; son, Ryan Maher and his wife, Jennifer, and two granddaughters, Abby and Macy, all of Blairsville. He is also survived by an uncle, Allan Evans, of Greensburg. Tom will also be sadly missed by his faithful companion boxer, Ally.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Latrobe United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Donald W. Graff officiating. Interment in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe.
