Samuel E. Brietz, Sr., 84, of Conway, passed away Friday, March 10,
2006 at his home. He was born September 10, 1921 in Carlisle, AR,
to the late James Alexander Brietz and Zula Mae (Percifull) Brietz.
Mr. Brietz graduated from Central High School and was a member (high
jumper) of the varsity track team. He attended one semester at Little Rock
Junior College before entering the Navy during WWII. He served from
1942-1946, became a commissioned pilot in 1943, and was a member of the
Tailhook Association. He re-entered the Ready Reserves and retired as a
Lieutenant in 1966.
He worked for Democrat, Printing, and Lithograph from 1940 to 1986 and
was a member of the Sylvan Hills Methodist Church in North Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Bonnie
Brietz, a son, Samuel E. Brietz, Jr., and a brother, James A. Brietz.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Brietz Jenkens of Conway; two
sisters, Mary Katherine Wilburn and Elizabeth Ann Trantham, both of Little
Rock; four granddaughters, Susannah Monta of Baton Rouge, LA, Stacy O'Brien
of Maumelle, Samantha Brietz of Seattle, WA, and Jesslyn Jenkens of
Milledgeville, GA; one grandson, Taylor Jenkens of Conway; three
great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral
Home in Conway with interment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park in
Alexander, AR. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Taylor Jenkens, Blake Trantham, Jim Trantham, Jim Shaw,
Lauren Gray, and C.E. Kirkham.
